Justin Bishop is a Melbourne-based interior designer known for creating refined, enduring interiors grounded in heritage, materiality, and classic style.
His work is defined by restraint, an approach that favours balance over excess, and longevity over immediate impact. Rather than following trends, each project is guided by a considered use of tone, texture, and architectural context, resulting in spaces that feel calm, cohesive, and quietly resolved.
Working across a range of residential and select commercial projects throughout Australia, Justin collaborates closely with architects and builders to ensure a cohesive and highly integrated outcome. From the earliest stages of planning through to final installation, each element is resolved with clarity and intent.
His interiors are recognised for their layered, masculine sensibility, where oak, stone, linen, and softened brass are brought together in a restrained palette. Rich textures, subtle contrasts, and a balance of antique and contemporary pieces create spaces that feel both composed and deeply individual.
Justin’s work has been featured in leading publications including Australian House & Garden, where he was named among the Best of the Best in Australian interior design. His projects have also been showcased in notable design events such as Como by Design, Art of Dining at the National Gallery of Victoria, and the Avenue of Design at Decor + Design Melbourne.
He is also the first designer to create a dedicated showroom within Schots Restoration Emporium, designing a bespoke space within the landmark building.
Justin oversees each project from concept through to completion, offering a comprehensive design service that extends beyond decoration, encompassing spatial planning, material direction, custom furniture, and detailed project coordination.
The result is a body of work that feels considered rather than constructed, interiors that settle into place, and continue to reveal their character over time.
