Design House Australia is a national showhouse and design event, taking place in Melbourne in early 2027.

Co-founded by interior designers Justin Bishop and Lucinda Kimpton — both recognised for their refined and highly resolved residential work — the platform reflects a shared devotion to craftsmanship and enduring style, and a commitment to celebrating the best of Australian interior design.

Conceived as a setting for collaboration and creative excellence, the showhouse brings together a curated selection of leading interior designers within a notable residential or architecturally distinguished property. Each designer reimagines a dedicated space, contributing to a cohesive yet layered narrative that responds to its setting while presenting a refined vision of contemporary Australian design.

Presented for a limited time, the showhouse offers a rare opportunity to experience Australian design in situ — within a complete residential setting shaped by some of the country’s leading designers and makers.

Drawing inspiration from internationally recognised showhouses such as Kips Bay and London’s WOW!house, alongside Melbourne’s own Villa Alba and Como House exhibitions, Design House Australia continues this lineage while establishing a new benchmark for design exhibitions in Australia.

The event is structured as a carefully curated program balancing exclusivity, public access, and industry engagement. From an invitation-only opening gala through to a limited exhibition period, the format is designed to build momentum, foster connection, and position the showhouse as a defining moment within Australia’s design calendar.

This inaugural edition marks the beginning of an ongoing national series, with future exhibitions to follow across a range of significant venues.
